THE FIRST GENERATION

Derrick Perkins Sr.

Derrick Perkins Sr. was a gifted engineer and mechanic. During World War II, he maintained Lancaster bombers in Britain, bringing a practical understanding of machinery to demanding work.

Family recollection holds that he achieved an exceptionally high result on a British eighth-grade standardized examination despite having had no formal education. His family remembers that result as a reflection of his remarkable ability to understand and solve problems.

In the early 1950s, he emigrated to the United States and settled on the East Coast. He pioneered a method for manufacturing BNC connectors and built a business that would endure for generations. The small plant in Beverly, Massachusetts, became the foundation of that story in 1957.

THE SECOND GENERATION

Derrick Perkins Jr.

His son, Derrick Perkins Jr., joined the business in the early 1980s. A gifted communicator and businessman, he brought a different but complementary strength to his father's engineering foundation.

He expanded the business beyond its proprietary connectors, helping it grow into a leading U.S. connector supplier and opening relationships in other industries. The move to Rochester, New Hampshire, in 1998 created room for the next stage of that growth.

IN REMEMBRANCE

Honoring Derrick Perkins Jr.

After a long battle with cancer, Derrick Perkins Jr. passed away on September 1, 2026. His sons carry the business forward in his honor, with gratitude for the people, relationships and opportunities he helped build.

THE THIRD GENERATION

Walter and Derrick Perkins

The business later expanded into Michigan and consolidated production at its current Milan facility. Today, Derrick Perkins Jr.'s sons, Walter and Derrick Perkins, carry it forward as the third generation of family leadership.

They bring their own perspective to the business while preserving the engineering knowledge, relationships and care for the work passed down by their father and grandfather.

MILAN FACILITY / 2D CONCEPT PLAN

FACILITY

Room to grow.

We are planning a 25,000–30,000-square-foot second section along the rear of our Milan facility. The building was designed to accommodate a second section, and the concept extends parallel to the existing production hall.

The planned addition brings together dedicated Swiss CNC and mill/turn production, QA and automated inspection, warehouse space and shipping with three loading docks. The planned lower-right corner is set back to keep the existing access drive clear. It is intended to expand capacity while improving material flow through the plant.

EQUIPMENT

Precision.
At the next scale.

Our equipment plans focus on newer multi-spindle turning platforms and Swiss CNC lathes. The facility concept combines established multi-spindle production with modern CNC multi-spindle machines, one milling machine and a turning center. Each investment is evaluated around the work it enables: repeatability, throughput and an effective manufacturing process.

We are pairing production growth with continued attention to inspection, tooling and finishing, so capacity and quality advance together. Our goal is to remain at the forefront of precision turning at scale.

SYSTEMS & PEOPLE

A stronger
operation.

Growth takes more than floor space. We will continue developing Liberty Net, our custom ERP launched by Walter Perkins, as part of our focus on plant efficiency and productivity.

Alongside software and equipment, we are investing in the skills and process knowledge that make production work. The next chapter combines the experience of three generations with a continuing drive to improve.
